Joint Center Board Member Dr. Dianne Pinderhughes Elected to American Academy of Arts and Sciences

Joint Center Board Member and Kellogg Faculty Fellow Dr. Dianne Pinderhughes joins “thinkers and doers” such as Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, and Winston Churchhill, with her election to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

“I am honored to have been elected to membership in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences,” she said in a statement to Kellogg, “and look forward to engaging in the work of this extraordinary organization.”

Dr. Pinderhughes earned her Ph.D in political science at the University of Chicago. Before teaching at the University of Notre Dame, she taught at the Dartmouth College and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She’s also published several books including Race and Ethnicity in Chicago Politics: A Reexamination of Pluralist Theory and her co-authored effort Uneven Roads: An Introduction to US Racial and Ethnic Politics.

In addition to her prestigious positions, Dr. Pinderhughes is also the chair of the Department of Africana Studies, a professor in the Department of Political Science, and a research faculty member in the Gender Studies Program.
