November 2023 Jobs Day Analysis

The Joint Center analyzes the employment numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and showcases how the numbers impact Black workers. Our November Jobs Day analysis is below.
In November, the unemployment rate for Black workers remained the same at 5.8 percent.
At 5.2 percent, the unemployment rate for Black women decreased from 6 percent in October, while the rate for Black men climbed to 6.6 percent from 5.6 percent.
The total number of Black workers increased by 264,000 in November, the largest month-to-month increase since March 2023.
At 11.3 percent, the unemployment rate for young Black workers decreased from October, but remains elevated compared to their non-Black peers.
