Joint Center Workforce Policy Director Discussed Ageism at Center for Workplace Inclusion Equity Summit 2022
Joint Center Workforce Policy Director Dr. Alex Camardelle participated in the Center for Workplace Inclusion Equity Summit 2022. This inaugural equity summit focused on equitable economic opportunity for older workers regardless of age, race, or gender. Dr. Camardelle’s panel highlighted how ageism is a continual challenge for older workers. When you combine ageism with racism and sexism, the impact on workers is exponential and cumulative. This panel discussed the urgent need for change and solutions to create real change now.
According to Dr. Camardelle, “as America’s Black Think Tank, we’re particularly concerned with the way that the laws in this country have been structured in a way because it disadvantaged workers of color, but in particularly black workers. Therefore, we really push for things that acknowledge the history of discrimination and racism and white supremacy in our policy solution.”
