Joint Center Vice President Discusses the American Rescue Plan on MSNBC Live with Stephanie Ruhle
Joint Center Vice President Jessica Fulton joined MSNBC Live with Stephanie Ruhle to discuss how the American Rescue Plan (President Biden’s coronavirus relief package) is “building a more inclusive table”
“The most exciting thing about the American Rescue Plan is that it starts to lay a foundation for us to build a more inclusive economy than we had prior to the pandemic,” said Jessica in the interview. “So the things that I’m excited about are the child tax credits that you talked about. These are temporary changes that are going to lift families out of poverty. In particular for Black folks, who have borne the brunt of this crisis both in terms of the virus and the economic impacts. It’s going to lower the child poverty rate according to the Brookings Institution from 1 in 4 to 1 in 10. That is an opportunity. That means that we are really trying to build an economy that works for everyone rather than one that works for just the top.”
