Joint Center Submits Comments with Over 70 Organizations Opposing Department of Labor Proposed Rule on Registered Apprenticeship Programs

The Joint Center joined the National Taskforce on Tradeswomen’s Issues and over 70 signatories to submit comments strongly opposing the Department of Labor’s proposed rule, “Prohibiting Illegal Discrimination in Registered Apprenticeship Programs,” and urging the Department to withdraw this proposal.

From the comments: “Ensuring that women, people of color, and other historically excluded groups have equal access to apprenticeship is beneficial for all workers and critical to achieving the goal of ‘ensuring equality of opportunity for every individual that participates in the labor force.'”

Signatories include the Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP), Equal Pay Today, Institute for Women’s Policy Research, National Black Worker Center, National Employment Law Project, National Skills Coalition, and more.
