Joint Center President Spencer Overton appeared on the Tom Joyner Morning Show to discuss diversity on the Hill with Roland Martin.

“It matters because these staffing positions make big decisions,” said Overton to Martin, referencing setting legislative agenda and the oversight of a $4 trillion budget as examples. Overton also shared that while Black people make up 12 percent of the U.S. population, they are only 7 percent of the top staff.
