Joint Center Welcomes New Board Member 

WASHINGTON – The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies is pleased to announce a new board member — Dr. Jean-Philippe Austin, chief of Radiation Oncology at the Miami VA Medical Center, chair of the Haitian-American Foundation for Democracy, and chair of the Florida Alliance, Florida’s progressive donor table.

“The Joint Center is so proud to welcome Dr. Jean-Philippe Austin to our board. As the Joint Center continues to grow, leaders like JP bring important perspectives to help expand our impact,” said Paul. N.D. Thornell, chair of the Board of Governors. “With his extensive expertise and experience developing resources for significant causes, advancing issues affecting the African diaspora in America, and serving as a leader in various political organizations and advocacy organizations, he will bring a unique perspective to our board. We are very fortunate to have such a distinguished leader join us as we work together to push our mission forward.”

About Dr. Jean-Philippe Austin: Dr. Jean-Philippe Austin is the chair of the Florida Alliance, Florida’s progressive donor table. He is also chair of the Haitian-American Foundation for Democracy and chief of Radiation Oncology at the Miami VA Medical Center. Previously, Dr. Austin worked as a member of President Obama’s National Finance Committee and the Florida Finance chair for the Democratic National Committee. Dr. Austin attended New York University, majoring in economics, and upon graduating, attended the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center for medical school.
