Joint Center State of the Dream Report Highlighted in National Urban League Op-Ed
March 17, 2026
National Urban League President and CEO Marc Morial authored an op-ed citing the Joint Center’s State of the Dream report, where we stated 2025 as a year of “regression and recession” for Black Americans. Additionally, Morial quoted Joint Center Chief of Staff Monica Mitchell in the piece.
From the essay: “In its State of the Dream 2026 report, the authors wrote that rather than aggressive leadership in dismantling structures of racial inequality, the country is witnessing regressive leadership that is slashing government employment and agencies designed to address predatory economic practices that disproportionately harm Black communities.”
