On Tuesday, October 17, Joint Center President Spencer Overton spoke on AABE Energy Policy Summit’s Workforce of the Future panel. The future of workforce is happening now. Things like automation and artificial intelligence are providing new opportunities, increased work production, and economic growth. However, they also provide a risk of job loss to workers with advancements like self-checkouts and driverless cars. This panel provided discussion on the what the future workforce looks like and how Black people can be prepared to take advantage of the new economy and avoid being left behind. The panel was moderated by Chevron Pipeline Company Vice President Telisa Toliver. Other panelists included National Urban League Senior Vice President for Policy & Vice President of the Washington Bureau Don Cravins, Jr., California Independent Petroleum Producers Director of Government Affairs P. Anthony Thomas, and Stinson Leonard Street Partner Russell Frisby, Jr.
