Joint Center Signed Letter Urging for Additional Funding for CPS
The Joint Center, along with more than 140+ organizations and businesses from different sectors, signed a letter led by the Friends of BLS, urging for an additional $20.6 million in funding for the Current Population Survey (CPS) beyond FY 2024 levels. The request is directed toward the final fiscal year 2025 appropriations or any continuing resolution for the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (LHHS-Ed).
The CPS is invaluable because it is the primary source of labor force statistics for the United States. This data influences global financial markets and macroeconomic policymaking. The letter was sent to Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Patty Murray (D-WA); Senate Appropriations Committee Vice Chair Susan Collins (R-MI); House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole (R-OK); and House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT).
