Joint Center Sends Letters to Ranking Member Menendez and Cardin on Committee Staff Diversity

This month, Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) was re-appointed to the ranking member position on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) was appointed ranking member of the Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship. On February 15, 2018, the Joint Center and seven other organizations sent letters to the new ranking members, urging their continued commitment to diversity when hiring senior staff on their respective committees. Currently, no full committee in the U.S. Senate has an African American or Latino staff director. You can find a copy of the letters below:
