Joint Center Quoted in USA Today in Article on the EEOC

Joint Center Senior Fellow Eric Morrissette’s op-ed titled “A New Economic Civil Rights Struggle: Disappearing Data” was quoted in an article by USA Today. The article focused on the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s plans to stop requiring reporting on racial and gender demographics for corporations, labor unions, state and local governments, apprenticeship programs, and schools.

From the article: “The widely anticipated announcement that the EEOC would cease collecting the data drew a swift rebuke from the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies. The research organization focused on issues affecting Black Americans said the loss of data could be ‘one of the most consequential civil-rights reversals of this era.'”
