Joint Center President Joins National Fair Housing Alliance’s Plenary Session with TIME Magazine’s Racial Wealth Gap Closers
Joint Center President Dedrick Asante-Muhammad joined the National Fair Housing Alliance’s National Conference for a plenary session entitled “Leading the Charge: Insights from TIME Magazine’s Racial Wealth Gap Closers.” The session featured Lisa Rice, Darrick Hamilton, and Asante-Muhammad.
From the panel description:
“Earlier this year, Time Magazine released a special feature recognizing 18 people working to close the racial wealth gap. One of those people is NFHA’s President and CEO, Lisa Rice. Other “Closers” include Dr. Darrick Hamilton, a Founding Director with The New School[,] and Dedrick Asante Muhammed, the new President of the Joint Center. Homeownership has always been the foundation of the American Dream, and owning a home remains the key to building wealth in this country. Yet there are a myriad of systemic barriers and other impediments, including discrimination, that prohibit people’s access to this critical wealth-building tool. Three of the nation’s most noted leaders on addressing racial inequality will discuss why the racial wealth gap has grown, how it is affecting everyone in the nation, and the unique ways they each are working to close the gap, improve the lives of millions of people, and make the nation more productive.”
