Joint Center Praises President Biden For Plans to Nominate Kristin Johnson to the Treasury

WASHINGTON — In response to President Biden’s intent to nominate Kristin Johnson to be assistant secretary for Financial Institutions at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies released the following statement:

“Congratulations to Kristin Johnson on her pending nomination as assistant secretary for Financial Institutions. We joined a coalition of 10 civil rights organizations, including the NAACP, National Urban League, and The Executive Leadership Council, to raise concerns over Black underrepresentation in senior and mid-level roles in the Treasury Department and other top economic policy roles in the Executive Branch. Ms. Johnson’s expected nomination is one step in the right direction in addressing this challenge and if appointed, we look forward to working with her in this new role,” said Dedrick Asante-Muhammad, president of the Joint Center.
