This Federal Budget Will Be a Disaster for Black Workers

Joint Center President Dedrick Asante-Muhammad and Senior Researcher Dr. LaToya Parker penned an op-ed in OtherWords on the GOP reconciliation bill’s impact on Black families. The piece also provides a deep dive into the potential elimination of the estate tax on ultra-wealthy households, the cutting of federal worker benefits, and how these two proposals can have drastic effects on Black communities building wealth in America.

From the op-ed: “This bill has been called a massive transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich. It will also entrench racial economic inequality, subsidizing dynastic wealth for the majority white top 0.1 percent while defunding the public-sector jobs and benefits that have long sustained the Black middle class.”
