On Thursday, February 23, the Joint Center – partnering with INSIGHT America – organized a breakfast with Jonathan Burks, Chief of Staff to Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.
In 2015, he served as the Policy Advisor for budget and appropriations to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. From 2010-2014 he served as Policy Director for the House Budget Committee where he served as the principal advisor to then-Budget Committee Chairman Ryan on defense and international affairs issues. From June through November 2012, Burks took a leave of absence from the Budget Committee to serve as the deputy policy director of the Romney for President campaign where he was responsible for the day-to-day management of the policy team. Prior to joining the Budget Committee, in 2007, he worked at the Securities and Exchange Commission as the Director of the Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs. From 2005-2007, Burks served as the senior advisor (chief of staff) to the Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs.
