Joint Center Files Comments to the FCC on the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program
The Joint Center joined nine other organizations in filing comments on the FCC Emergency Broadband Benefit Program. The comments, sent as a 7-page letter with recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the program and ensure it’s run equitably, was led by Open Technology Institute at New America. Recommendations for the program include using plain language, ensuring all information and publicity is available in many languages beyond English, using language and marketing practices that are culturally relevant and inclusive, expanding publicity beyond FCC and USAC official websites, and more.
Other participants in sending the letter include American Civil Liberties Union, Benton Institute for Broadband & Society, Common Cause, Free Press, MediaJustice, National Hispanic Media Coalition, Public Knowledge, and UnidosUS.
