Joint Center Announces Tax Policy Advisory Committee
“The Joint Center’s Tax Policy Program Advisory Committee will be instrumental in achieving a number of goals, including amplifying the Joint Center’s impact on federal tax policy debates and furthering research on tax policy and racial inequality,” said Jessica Fulton, VP, Policy for the Joint Center. “It is fitting to announce this important committee on Tax Day because the members will help the Joint Center to highlight the inequities that exist within tax policy and its administration, such as Black taxpayers being at least three times as likely to be audited by the Internal Revenue Service than other taxpayers and how the existing federal tax code exacerbates the wealth gap.”
This group of scholars will support the Joint Center’s Tax Policy Program by providing their expertise and collaborating on policy development.
The inaugural members include:
- Jeremy Bearer-Friend, Associate Professor of Law, George Washington University Law School
- Steven Dean, Professor of Law, Brooklyn Law School
- Bradley Hardy, Associate Professor, McCourt School of Public Policy and Georgetown University
- Chye-Ching Huang, Executive Director, Tax Law Center at New York University Law School
- Phyllis Taite, Professor of Law, Oklahoma City University School of Law
