Geoffrey Starks Nominated to Replace Commissioner Mignon Clyburn on FCC After Joint Center Recommendation

On June 1, 2018, President Trump announced his intention to nominate Geoffrey Starks to become a commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission. In this role, Starks will replace outgoing commissioner, Mignon Clyburn. On February 21, 2018, the Joint Center sent a letter to Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) recommending Geoffrey Starks for the Federal Communications Commission. Geoffrey Starks is originally from Kansas City, and was appointed by President Obama to serve in the United States Department of Justice, Office of the Deputy Attorney General before joining the Federal Communications Commission as the Assistant Chief of the Enforcement Bureau. Starks must still be confirmed by the United States Senate
