Due to your support, the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies continues to be a leading source of information for elected officials and policy experts who serve communities of color. Your generous donations allow us to spark change through policy roundtablesresearch reports, policy briefs, policy videossurvey data reports, bipartisan breakfasts, and more.
For example, the Joint Center engaged in original research that showed that people of color make up over 36 percent of the population, but account for only 7 percent of top U.S. Senate staff.  Diversity is a challenge for both Democrats and Republicans.  For example, African Americans make up 22 percent of the Democratic voting base, but just over 1 percent of top Democratic staff.  Publishing this data resulted in extensive media coverage, the creation of a U.S. House Democratic Diversity Office, and accelerated efforts to expand diversity among Hill staff.
