Joint Center President Provides Keynote Speech at ‘Lift Every Voice’ Event Honoring Lani Guinier

Joint Center President Spencer Overton was a keynote speaker at the celebration of the life and legacy of educator, legal scholar, and civil rights theorist Lani Guinier. The “Lift Every Voice” event, hosted by More Equitable Democracy, represented a unique opportunity to discuss Professor Guinier’s ideas regarding equity, racial justice, and electoral systems change.

Spencer was joined by Danielle Allen, professor and director of the Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard; Cynthia Richie Terrell, executive director of Represent Women; and Grace Ramsey, co-director of Democracy Rising.

Shortly after Guiner’s passing, Spencer spoke with NPR about her legacy. Learn more about the “Life Every Voice” event here.
