Improving Tax Policy for Black Communities

September 13 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Improving Tax Policy for Black Communities Event Flyer

Tax policy has significant implications for Black households. Unfortunately, too often, Black leaders and advocates are excluded from conversations about how tax policy can help to decrease wealth gaps and advance economic justice. Join our distinguished panelists to learn more about the importance of tax policy for racial justice, the benefits and shortcomings of the tax code for Black communities, and future opportunities to make an impact on tax policy.

Panelists include Dorothy A. Brown, the Martin D. Ginsburg chair in Taxation at Georgetown University Law Center; Steven Dean, professor of Law and co-director of the Dennis J. Block Center for the Study of International Business Law at Brooklyn Law School; Bradley Hardy, associate professor at the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University and nonresident senior fellow in Economic Studies at the Brookings Institution; and Janis Bowdler, counselor for racial equity at the U.S. Department of Treasury. This conversation will be moderated by Jessica Fulton, vice president, Policy, at the Joint Center.
