Joint Center Participates in APSA Panel on Applied Careers in Political Science

On August 30, Joint Center Senior Fellow of Diversity & Inclusion Dr. LaShonda Brenson participated in a roundtable,Thinking Outside the Box: Applied Careers in Political Science, at American Political Science Association's annual meeting. The roundtable focused on "identifying career opportunities and translating political science/MA or PhD skills for potential employers."

The discussion topics included "strategies for identifying career opportunities, how to develop skills and materials for a job search in an applied field, and tips for transitioning out of an academic placement."

Other participants included Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Research & Policy Analysis Vice President Menna Demessie, Cato Institute Defense and Foreign Policy Research Fellow Emma Ashford, National Nuclear Security Administration Federal Program Manager Beatriz Cuartas, and RAND Corporation and Worcester Polytechnic Institute Social Science & Policy Studies Assistant Professor Patricia Stapleton.
