Joint Center & NALEO Host Transition Roundtable

On November 16, the Joint Center – in partnership with NALEO – hosted over 25 leaders of organizations that represent elected officials of color for a day-long roundtable in Washington, DC focused on the upcoming transition. The participants met at the White House, the Republican National Committee headquarters (co-hosted by INSIGHT America), and George Washington University Law School. The sessions were closed and off-the-record.

During the morning session, participants met with White House Officials – Deputy Assistant to the President and White House Director of Intergovernmental Affairs Jerry Abramson, White House Associate Director of Intergovernmental Affairs Elias Alcantara, and White House Associate Director for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement Alissa Ko.

At George Washington University, participants met with John Acton of the Partnership for Public Service’s Center for Presidential Transition which is working to help presidential candidates and the transition teams navigate the transition process Alton provided details about the transition and appointments process.

Participants meet at the Republican National Committee headquarters for their third session of the Transition Roundtable.

During the afternoon session, participants met at the RNC headquarters with Kay Coles James, Management & Budget Chair for the Trump-Pence Transition Project. Participants also met with a variety of other leaders connected to the transition, including Elroy Sailor, Senior Advisor to RNC Chair Reince Priebus & INSIGHT America co-founder, D.J. Jordan from the Office of Senator James Lankford (R-OK), Darien Flowers from the Office of Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Jimmy Kemp, founder of the Jack Kemp Foundation, and Matt Keelen, founder and President of the government affairs firm The Keelen Group (TKG).
