Joint Center Honors Black Chiefs of Staff During CBC Week

On September 12, the Joint Center and Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law co-hosted a reception to honor Black chiefs of staff on the Hill.

Joint Center President Spencer Overton and Lawyers' Committee President and Executive Director Kristen Clarke gave remarks ahead of the dinner reception.

It was an event to bring awareness about the lack of Black top staff, but also to celebrate the Black staff in our presence today, and the difficult work that they do in representing their boss, district, and state. Their presence and expertise ensure the inclusion of Black interests in the nation’s policy debates and legislation. And we thank and salute them for their service
