DataBank, Roster of Black Elected Officials, and National Opinion Polls

The Joint Center's DataBank is a comprehensive warehouse of data on racial populations. It includes, among other things, comparative data on education, economic empowerment, health, housing, and demographic information, as well as fact sheets on selected topics.

The Roster of Black Elected Officials is updated on a regular basis and provides the most complete compilation of black elected officials at all levels of government.

Since 1984, the Joint Center has conducted over 20 National Opinion Polls. The primary focus of a majority of the surveys has been the political attitudes of African Americans and members of the general population. Other polls the Joint Center has conducted have examined issues including: black philanthropy, attitudes toward other countries, the black family, welfare reform and devolution, health policy, regulatory reform and the declining propensity to serve in the military, among others.

The other group is made up of 2.7 million workers who may first benefit from minimum wage increases in their states, and then later benefit from the FMWA as it raises the minimum wage to $6.55 by 2008 and $7.25 by 2009.Learn More
