Joint Center Speaks at Dialogue on Diversity

Joint Center President Spencer Overton spoke at the 2018 Internet Data Privacy Colloquium.  He emphasized that 31% of Latino workers and 27% of Black workers are concentrated in just 30 occupations at high risk to automation. Compared to white workers, Black workers are:

  • Over one-and-a-half times more likely to be cashiers, cooks, and fast food workers
  • Over three times more likely to be bus drivers, taxi drivers, chauffeurs, and security guards

Spencer also emphasized that communities of color in the U.S. need to take concrete steps to successfully adapt to the economic transformations taking place.
