Joint Center Releases New Data at CBCF Future of Work Panel

At the event, the Joint Center released a new data brief showing that of the over 700 occupations tracked by the Department of Labor, 26.7% of African American workers are concentrated in just 20 occupations that are at high risk to automation. Click here to read the data brief.

The panel was hosted by Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (D – At-Large) as a part of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Legislative Conference. Other panelists included Center for Global Policy Solutions CEO Dr. Maya Rockeymoore, Starbucks Director of the Opportunity Youth Program Lt. Colonel (R) David Ocelander, and Aspen Institute Director of Future of Work Initiative Alastair Fitzpayne.

The session covered the effect innovation and automation will have on the workforce, and how companies, the workforce, and the next generation can prepare for the jobs of tomorrow today.
